It is no coincidence that one of the largest triathlons in the Netherlands takes place in Holten. With its stretches of forest, gorgeous nature and the Holterberg, of course, this hilly region is a perfect setting for this sporting event. The area draws people from far and wide year round, who come here for some active relaxation. Rijssen-Holten was named hiking municipality of the year back in 2012 for good reason. But cyclists will find plenty of enjoyment here as well. Plus, touristy Holten features a picturesque village centre and neighbouring Rijssen offers plenty of shopping options.
